Pierce Edens
Asheville, North Carolina singer/songwriter Pierce Edens emerged in the early 2000s, cultivating a rootsy Americana sound influenced by the regional mountain folk he grew up listening to. Edens underwent a phase of obsession with punk and grunge in his teenage years, and ultimately created a fiery synthesis by merging the more aggressive scuzzy sounds he was drawn to in his teens with the traditional acoustic music he was raised on. In 2004, Edens self-released his Four Songs EP and began to play live regionally. He followed up with a proper full-length in the form of 2006's Party Dress, and then again with 2009's Long Days Above Ground. At this phase of his career, he focused more seriously on touring, completing multiple national tours. He enlisted the help of his fans to fund his efforts through popular Internet-based pledge site Kickstarter, resulting in his most polished work to date with his self-titled 2012 album.
