Jamrud

Jamrud is one of the best-selling rock bands in Indonesian history. Formed under the original name of "Jamrock" in Cimahi, West Java, the group began working together in 1984, with lead vocalist Yudi, lead guitarist Aziz Mangasi Siagian, bassist Krisyanto, drummer Budhy Haryono, and keyboardist Ari forming the original lineup. Jamrock had changed its name to Jamrock by the mid-1990s, and the band's repertoire of cover songs gradually gave way to original material as new members like guitarist Fitrah Alamsyah and drummer Sandy Handoko joined the lineup. 1996's Nekad, 1997's Putri, and 1998's Terima Kasih all helped Jamrud establish itself as a platinum-selling rock act, while the band's fourth album, 2000's Ningrat, became Indonesia's seventh-highest best-selling record ever. Featuring the hit singles "Surti-Tejo" and "Pelangi di Matamu," Ningrat sold more than two million copies and won a record-breaking five awards at the Anugerah Musik Indonesia ceremony later that year. Sydney 090102 followed in 2002 and was similarly successful, earning multi-platinum status thanks to the radio hits "Waktuku Mandi" and "Selamat Ulang Tahun." Although Jamrud's lineup continued to shift, the band remained prolific throughout the following two decades, releasing albums like 2011's Bumi & Langit Menangis, 2012's Energi + Bumi & Langit, and 2021's God Gave Rock N' Roll to Me.
