Frank Ray

Frank Ray is a singer/songwriter who fuses slick country-pop with Latin flair and occasional bilingual lyrics. A former police officer from New Mexico, Ray enjoyed some regional success before heading to Nashville where he signed with BBR Music Group and scored a hit with his 2021 single "Country'd Look Good on You." The song anchored his self-titled debut album which was released in 2023. Born Francisco Gomez in Deming, New Mexico, the singer spent his youth living between Texas and New Mexico, soaking up the sounds of both country music and ranchera. Music was always a passion, though he initially began his career in law enforcement, working as a police officer in Las Cruces and gigging on the side. By 2017, he'd earned enough local success to inspire him to give music a go full-time. Using the stage name Frank Ray, he released his first EP, Different Kind of Country, that same year. His beachy, laid-back 2018 single "Tequila Mockingbird" found some traction on the streaming networks and Ray decided to relocate to Nashville to better his chances. In May 2021, he joined the roster of BBR Music Group, which released his bilingual Latin-country hybrid "Streetlights." It was his second single for the label, the romantic "Country'd Look Good on You," that became his breakout song, climbing to number 17 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. A 2022 EP, Getcha Some, served as a stopgap as Ray readied his debut full-length. The self-titled album, released in July 2023, featured an array of styles from pop and Latin to hip-hop, though it remained rooted in country.
