Elżbieta Steinmetz, who was born on October 11, 1992 in Smila, Ukraine, became known to a wider public in 2014: As a member of the pop group Elaiza, she presented the track "Is It Right", which came 18th at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen that same year as the German entry. In the German singles charts, the song even climbs to number 4 and wins a gold record. Together with bandmates Laura Zimmermann and Natalie Plöger, she released two long-playing records, Gallery (2014) and Restless (2016). Since 2019, Steinmetz has also been making a name for herself as a solo artist under the artist pseudonym Ela. The singer, who has also written songs for German pop queen Helene Fischer, also presented the song "Fahrtwind" in 2019. A subsequent tour of Germany was followed in 2020 by her solo debut LP Liebe & Krieg, which was streamed millions of times and entered the album charts in Germany at number 87.
