E.M.D.
Born from the reality music competition Idol, E.M.D. was a short-lived Swedish boy band who took the charts by storm in the late aughts with a string of infectious pop singles. Composed of vocalists Erik Segerstedt, Mattias Andréasson, and Danny Saucedo, the trio made their official debut in 2007 with a cover of Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart, and Sting’s “All for Love,” which became an instant success as it climbed to Number 3 on the Hitlistan. Studio debut A State of Mind (2008) went straight to the top of the Swedish Albums Chart aided by a slew of Number 1 singles: the Grammy-winning “Jennie Let Me Love You,” “Alone,” and “Baby Goodbye.” A deluxe version followed in 2009 as a collection of Christmas songs entitled Välkommen hem hit Number 3 on the Sverigetopplistan, obtaining platinum certification four times. Preceded by the Top 5 single “Save Tonight,” originally by Eagle-Eye Cherry, third album Rewind (2010) didn’t perform as expected and the trio went on an indefinite hiatus shortly after its release. Towards the end of the decade, they reconvened for the tenth season of reality TV show Så mycket bättre, where they performed a cover of GES’ “Hon är min,” released as a standalone single in 2019.
