TRYPL were born out of the friendship of trombonist Trevor Mires (Jamiroquai, George Benson, Michel Legrand…), trumpet player Ryan Quigley (Tim Garland, George Michael, Eddie Reader..) and saxophonist Paul Booth (Jamiroquai, Incognito, Brand New Heavies…) and their endless love for the merging of jazz and latino rhythms. The first album from this trio was recorded in a rural studio and inspired by the legendary Steve Winwood among some high calibre friends: the pianist Alex Wilson, bassist Dimitris Christopoulos, percussionist Edwin Sanz and drummers Tristan Banks and Davide Giovannni. The Brits make us forget their origins as they perfectly reawaken their mastery of mambo, salsa and seemingly intuitive salsa. The album begins with an iconic composition and nod towards Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Bojo, and closes with another previously unreleased track Here We Go. With the exception of a wild adaptation of the Cuban classic Tres Palabras, sang all over the American continent for generations (Omara Portuondo, Nat King Cole, Enrique Iglesias), this first album, stuffed with incredible performances is an unstoppable love letter to Caliente dance. © Benjamin MiNiMuM/Qobuz
