Das Label

ECM

Das deutsche Label ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) wurde 1969 in München von dem ausgebildeten Musiker Manfred Eicher (Studium an der Hochschule für Musik Berlin, später Kontrabassist bei den Berliner Philharmonikern unter der Leitung von Karajan) gegründet. Anfangs nur auf Jazz spezialisiert, hat sich das Label schnell auf außergewöhnliche und unkonventionelle Projekte ausgeweitet, die das Siegel ECM bekamen und von einer oft sehr gewagten künstlerischen Richtung inspiriert wurden (wie bei den Alben Officium, wo Garbarek sein Saxophon über gregorianische Gesänge legt, die von dem Hilliard Ensemble interpretiert werden, oder Proverbs and Songs, bei dem der Chor von...
