Released through the German wing of Universal, Legenden des Soul is a series of '60s/'70s-oriented anthologies that compile major and minor hits from marquee R&B artists. The volumes consist of original recordings and were made available as compact discs and as digital downloads. Marvin Gaye's volume covers the singer's early work up to 1977's "Got to Give It Up," though nothing here is taken from the 1976 album I Want You. Among the essential selections: "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," "What's Going On," "Ain't That Peculiar," "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," "Come Get to This," and "Trouble Man."
