Francesca Aspromonte
Italian soprano Francesca Aspromonte began her music career as a pianist and harpsichordist before studying voice with Maria Pia Piscitelli. She studied further with Boris Bakow, and graduated from the Salzburg Mozarteum. She attended the Opera Studio of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and concentrated on early music performance at the Academie baroque européenne d’Ambronay. She has performed the title role in Cavalli's Erismena, the dual roles of Musica and Euridice in Monteverdi's La favola d'Orfeo, Ariana in Handel's Serse, and Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni, among other parts. She has performed in concert repertoire in collaboration with Les Talens Lyriques, directed by Christophe Rousset; Ensemble Baroque de Nice, conducted by Gilbert Bezzina; and Il Pomo d'Oro, conducted by Enrico Onofri. Prologue, Aspromonte's 2018 debut recording on Pentatone, featured the personified introductions from early Baroque operas by Monteverdi, Caccini, Cavalli, and others.
