Ying Na

Born on 27 November 1967 in Shenyang, Liaoning, singer and TV personality Na Ying cut her teeth as a member of the Liaoning Juvenile Broadcasting Chorus in 1979, and later in the Shenyang Singing and Dancing Troupe in 1983. She kicked off her recording career in Taiwan and Hong Kong in 1988, releasing her first album A single woman like me (像我这样的单身女子) three years later and issuing the follow-up two years later, I hope my dreams come true (但愿好梦都成真), but failing to make any discernible impact with either LP. It was with the release of her first major album Dreaming With You in 1994 that she broke through in mainland China and kept up the momentum on subsequent releases, signing a contract with EMI in 1997 before moving to Warner Music for sixth album I'm Not an Angel. Following the release of 如今…(Nowadays) in 2002, she took some time away from the spotlight to focus on raising a family, however, performed at the closing ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. She made a comeback in 2011, going to the top of the chart in mainland China and Taiwan with So... What? and in 2012, becoming a coach and judge on the first season of The Voice of China. She appeared on the first season of Sing! China in 2016 before resigning as a coach the following year. That same year she released NASING, an EP featuring three songs that were used in film soundtracks. In early 2021, she took part in Chinese reality TV show Sisters Who Make Waves and was invited back during the third season as one of the two group captains in spring 2022. In January 2023, she contributed a new song, "藏无可藏," to the film 狂飆.
