ODIE

A singer and songwriter with a mellow vocal style and insightful lyrics regarding day-to-day life, ODIE defies simple classification with inspirations including Fela Kuti, Coldplay, and Kid Cudi. He made his full-length debut in 2018 with Analogue -- featuring "Little Lies" and "North Face" -- and since then has released a handful of singles including 2020's "Miss Summer" and 2023's "Go Boy." The EP N.F.A. DEMOS appeared in 2024. Born in Montreal, ODIE (short for Odunayo Ekunboyejo) spent his early life in Toronto before he moved to the Bay Area at the age of 12 with his family. He was exposed to a broad variety of music in his household, beginning with the highlife, jùjú, and Afrobeat records played by his Nigerian parents, and extending to contemporary R&B and rap. After a little formal training on piano, ODIE opted to start writing on his own while also figuring out how to play hits like Timbaland and One Direction's "Apologize." After he made additional creative strides, he and high school friends named Yaqob and Chris established Unité Recordings. ODIE cultivated an early following with his SoundCloud uploads, while his earliest commercially available material, "Crescendo" and "Trance Dance," either approached or eclipsed a million streams in short order. Early in 2018, supported with a new distribution deal through Empire, ODIE issued a few singles -- including "Night Terrific!" featuring Yaqob -- that led to the album Analogue, the source of subsequent breakout songs "Little Lies" and "North Face." "No Signs," recorded for the soundtrack of They Fight, followed later in the year, and in 2020, "Slowly" and "Miss Summer" were greeted with warm receptions. After an extended break from releasing new material, ODIE returned in 2023 with the typically open-hearted "Go Boy." N.F.A. DEMOS, standing for No Future Ambition, was released in 2024.
