Jauz

Jauz is Sam Vogel, a Los Angeles-based EDM producer whose motto "music has no boundaries" is matched by his eclectic range of styles. He's likely to produce chill trap as well as future garage, occasionally tipping into the more aggressive side of dubstep. His remixes add a bass-heavy contemporary club edge to everything from '80s electro to '90s hip-hop, as well as post-millennial pop. With his singles and collaborations during the mid-2010s, he became known as one of the pioneers of bass house, and his work later in the decade helped kick off the speed house subgenre. His ambitious, cinematic 2018 full-length The Wise and the Wicked touches on everything from bassline to electropop, while 2023's Rise of the Wise channels the producer's house influences while remaining fresh and futuristic. Vogel first began uploading remixes in 2013, and it wasn't long before his tracks caught the attention of Diplo, Skrillex, and Borgore. Vogel's 2014 single "Feel the Volume" was released by Mad Decent, and his Skrillex collaboration "Squad Out!" was released in 2015 as part of Adult Swim's free singles program. He also released tracks with Pegboard Nerds on Canadian label Monstercat, as well as several singles on Spinnin' Records, including collaborations with Eptic and Ephwurd. While he's created several unofficial remixes of major pop hits, he's also released official remixes of tracks by Kiesza, Tiga, Knife Party, and others. In April 2018, Jauz teamed up with French producer DJ Snake for the single "Gassed Up." A major festival hit, it was regarded as the track that launched the style known as speed house. It was included on The Wise and the Wicked, a 23-track, four-chapter full-length which also featured collaborations with Krewella, SNAILS, Example, Holy Goof, and many others. In 2019, Jauz released heavily streamed remixes of SHAED's "Trampoline" and Pinkfong's viral hit "Baby Shark." He also released the house flashback "Don't Leave Me" and collaborations with the likes of Zeds Dead, i_o, and DNMO. The five-song EP Dangerous Waters appeared in 2020, with TYNAN and Jump System making guest appearances. "Oceans & Galaxies," an anthemic collaboration with singer HALIENE, became a streaming hit in 2021. The more aggressive "Sick" (with Frank Zummo and We Are Pigs) and "Forever" (with Micah Martin) followed, as well as the more club-friendly "Make It Good." Jauz's 2022 EP Block Party included songs with Masked Wolf and Habstrakt. He began 2023 with "S.O.S," a dubstep track with Zeds Dead and Nicole Millar. Jauz focused on melodic, futuristic house with his 2023 full-length Rise of the Wise, which included a re-appearance of his earlier single "Don't Leave Me."
