Unlike Pluto

Armond Arabshahi, aka Unlike Pluto, is an electronic-based DJ, producer, and songwriter known for his eclectic jazz, R&B, rock, and dance-influenced tracks. Raised in Atlanta, Arabshahi started out playing piano around age five, and eventually learned guitar, drums, and clarinet. As a teenager, he experimented with different styles of music and played in a handful of bands before discovering electronic music. Initially inspired by artists like Skrillex, Justice, and Deadmau5, he began crafting his own tracks, moving in ever more stylistically expansive directions. While earning his biology degree from Emory University, he continued to work on his music at night, and began posting songs online. Around 2012, several of his remixes, including tracks by Gorillaz and Diplo, gained traction after getting posted to Hype Machine. The increased attention helped build Unlike Pluto's audience, and after graduating he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. He eventually signed with Diplo's Mad Decent label and released the 2016 EP Show Me Love. That same year, he was named one of Billboard's Dance Artists to Watch. In 2017, he paired with Mike Taylor for the track "Everything Black" and headlined his own Everything Black tour. In 2018, Arabshahi launched a project called the Pluto Tapes, where he challenged himself to release a new song every week. This culminated in a series of Pluto Tapes albums, (Vols. 1, 2, and 3) which were issued in 2019. A series of non-album singles, including "Death in Paradise" and "Silver Screen Life," followed later that year.
