Satte 6 Jahre sind seit dem letzten Album von Madame "Nothing Compares To You" ins Land gegangen. Um ihr Atlantic-Debut "Faith And Courage" so abwechslungsreich wie möglich zu gestalten, rekrutierte die zierliche Irin mit Wyclef Jean, Brian Eno oder Dave Stewart verheißungsvolle Namen für die Produzentenriege.
Herausgekommen ist dabei das poporientierteste und homogenste Album ihrer Karriere. Schon die Vorabsingle "No Man's Woman" deutete auf die eingängige Seite der neuen Sinéad hin, hierbei half übrigens das Produzententeam von Nathalie Imbruglias "Torn" aus. In "The Healing Room", einer spärlich instrumentierten Ballade, verrät uns Sinéad gleich zu Beginn von ihren Gefühlen zur dreijährigen Tochter Roisin.
Glücklicherweise fährt sie nicht länger auf der melancholischen Schiene, die sie auf "Universal Mother" genügend breitgetreten hat. Dafür gibt's anschmiegsamen Pop: Bei "'Til I Whisper You Something" flüstert Sinéad anfangs in tiefsten Stimmregionen, während "The State I'm In" mit romantischem Refrain zum Kuscheln mit der Liebsten animiert.
Erinnerungen an rockige "Emperor's New Clothes"-Zeiten offenbart einzig "Daddy I'm Fine". Die Nummer beginnt in unspektakulärem Mid-Tempo, zieht zum Refrain hin ordentlich an und liefert dem vielseitigen Organ O'Connors genügend Raum zum Glänzen.
Ihr nachhallendes Gequieke in "Hold Back The Night" zurrt allerdings doch etwas an meinen Nervensträngen und der Gospel-Feel von "If U Ever" reißt auch nicht wirklich mit. Trotzdem muss man das Comeback der Grand Dame des Female Aggro Pop als gelungen betrachten, die ihr Werk mit dem christlichen Huldigungsruf "Kyrié Eléison" betont religiös ausklingen lässt.
