Uno dei dischi piu’ venduti di sempre, con oltre 35 milioni di copie vendute, e’ il quarto disco del leggendario gruppo rock inglese, pubblicato l’8 novembre 1971 da Atlantic Records e prodotto da Jimmy Page. Viene generalmente chiamato “IV”, “Il quarto”, e con altri nomi o addirittura simboli, poiche’ privo di un titolo ufficiale. Contiene, tra le altre, uno dei brani piu’ famosi della storia del rock, “Stairway to heaven”, composta da Jimmy Page e Robert Plant, e la celeberrima iniziale “Black Dog”. L’album presenta brani rock e heavy rock alternati a episodi acustici o blues, continuando il cammino di sperimentazione che ha contraddistinto uno dei gruppi piu’ originali e innovatori della storia del rock.
