Sha Ek

New York rapper Sha Ek brings unhinged aggression and shouty flows on sharp-edged drill tracks. The Bronx-bred artist decided to start rapping in 2020 while still in his teens, and within a few years he had signed to Warner-affiliated label Defiant Records for the release of his debut 2022 mixtape, Face of the What. A second mixtape, Return of the Jiggy, followed that same year. Born Chalim Perry in 2003, Sha Ek grew up in The Bronx, New York where he became interested in rapping in his teens. In early 2020, he was motivated by the boredom of the COVID-19 lockdowns to begin recording his own fiery drill tracks. After releasing a few songs in 2020, he had a breakthrough in 2021 with the powerful and menacing single "D & D," a collaborative track with Blockwork. Several noteworthy singles were released throughout 2021 and 2022, leading to the rapper signing a recording contract with the Warner-owned Defiant Records. In September 2022, he released his full-length debut mixtape, Face of the What. It featured cameos from Sleazyworld Go, Bandmanrill, and others and quickly landed in the number one position on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. That December he returned with a second mixtape, Return of the Jiggy. "Who You Touch, Pt. 2," a collaboration with Trippie Redd, arrived in August 2023.
