Bandmanrill

Building a fusion of Jersey club and New York Drill styles alongside producer MCVertt, Newark's Bandmanrill used his inventive take on regional sounds to become one of his city's hottest new voices. Debuting in 2020 with the Auto-Tune-heavy "Fight Back," Bandmanrill began his career in the Auto-Tune-driven avenues of the early 2020s, dipping between wailed trap ("NA NA," "Party," "Preach") and N.Y.C.-style drill ("$outh Recap") throughout his first year of rapping. After a quick detour into Detroit sounds on "Strag Story," the MC found his breakout hit in the early stages of 2021: the MCVertt-produced "Heartbroken" offered an original take on the sounds of his city, mixing the vocal deliveries of drill with the remix styles, sample-chopping, and high tempo of Jersey club. With the track soon surpassing a million views online, the rapper/producer combo continued their success with a run of similar singles: "Bullet" remixed the legendary unreleased Playboi Carti track "Kid Cudi," "MR. DONTCUFFTHAT" overdubbed a high-octane edit of radio hit "Sucker for Pain," and "I Am Newark" reworked Madcon's classic "Begging." In 2022, Bandmanrill inked a deal with Warner, which began the rollout for the rapper's debut mixtape with the release of drill-heavy "Copy and Paste." After a few further singles, including the fiery "Influence," he issued his first project. Titled Club Godfather, the 13-track tape was an infectious collection of the Jersey club/rap fusions he had pioneered.
