The Ministry Of Wolves
The Ministry of Wolves is an international musical collective that formed in order to soundtrack a theater production of Republik der Wölfe, a retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales through the lens of poet Anne Sexton's Transformations, a collection of poems about them. The work was directed by Claudia Bauer, who commissioned member Paul Wallfisch (ex-Firewater, Botanica), musical director of Theater Dortmund, to form an ensemble to perform live with the actors. He gathered Mick Harvey (ex-Crime & the City Solution, Birthday Party, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds), and current C&CS members Alexander Hacke (ex-Einstürzende Neubaten) and Danielle de Picciotto. Their debut album, Music from Republik der Wölfe, appeared from Mute in the U.K. in March of 2014 and globally in April. A second collection of songs adapted from the tales of the Brothers Grimm, Happily Ever After, was released in the fall of 2014.
