Emily Arrow

Emily Arrow is an award-winning children's songwriter, author, and educator known for her warm ukulele songs. She created her own music subgenre with her Storytime Singalong series, featuring songs inspired by various picture books. After launching the series with Storytime Singalong, Vol. 1 in 2016, Vol. 3's inspirations included her own publication, STUDIO: A Place for Art to Start (2020). Following song collections about winter and the moon, 2024's Nature Sings included tunes like "Let It Grow" and "Bubbles in the Park." Also the author of children's books including music instruction manuals and picture books, singer, songwriter, and author Emily Arrow is based in Houston, Texas. She's a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, where she also earned a teaching certification in Orff Shulwerk (aka the Orff Approach), which incorporates lessons on topics like music, drama, speech, and movement into play. With a goal to inspire a love of both music and reading, she combines the two disciplines with her books, many of which are about music, and in her songs, some of which are about books (with the permission of and in collaboration with authors). With arrangements built around her ukulele named Bow, she released Storytime Singalong, Vol. 1 in 2016. Storytime Singalong, Vol. 2 arrived a year later. Also released in 2017, Wintertime Singalong focused on songs about things like holidays, snow, and yetis. Featuring illustrations by Kayla Stark, the picture book Trying Again included words and music (reachable through a QR code) by Arrow, as did Checking In, featuring illustrations by Joy Steurwald. Both part of the My Feelings, My Choices series, they were published by Cantata Learning in 2019, the same year Storytime Singalong, Vol. 3 was released. 2020 brought both the stripped-down album Ukulele Moon (subtitled Peaceful Moon Songs for Calm and Rest) and her book STUDIO: A Place for Art to Start (with illustrators James and Melissa Buchanan). It was about finding a space to create. She also continued to contribute picture books in the My Feelings, My Choices series. Arrow was back with more music in 2023 in the form of Sing-Along with Emily Arrow. Its subject matter included everything from books and animals to cooking and songwriting. In the meantime, Arrow published music instruction and songbooks for kids for ukulele and keyboard instruments. In 2024, she released Nature Sings, a collection of songs about plants, animals, and natural phenomena. That year, as founder of the Rainbow Song School, she also started an online and pop-up music-education studio.
