Christophe Medjoub "DJ Seeq"

DJ Seeq began his approach to mixes with turntables with Jimmy Jay back in 1987, preferring to perfect his skills rather than go to school. Some of his demos were heard at night on public radio the following year, and in 1989 he was runner-up in a DJ championship in Paris, where he met other promising rappers who would break through a few years later. He and Jimmy Jay moved toward alignment with the 501 Posse in 1990 -- MC Solaar, Bambi Cruz, and most notably Soon E MC -- the latter of whom recorded "Elucider Ce Mystere" with Seeq. After the success of this hit, Seeq went back to the studios to work on Soon E MC's Rap. Jazz. Soul EP (his first contract) and Atout...Point de Vue LP. In 1994 he worked with other 501 Posse members Democrates D for La Voie du Peuple and Menelik for Phenomenelik, as well as with Jimmy Jay for his second album, Les Cool Sessions, Vol. 2. He also produced some tracks for Lamifa and other artists in the following years, but he mostly concentrated on his own work (issued on compilations and his two breakbeat albums). DJ Seeq has been very close to Jimmy Jay since the beginning of both men's careers, working together on very important albums of French rap in the early '90s and contributing to the establishment of the new guard in the mid-'90s.
