Vivaldi hatte großes Glück mit der Nachwelt. Dank einer Aufeinanderfolge von glücklichen Zufällen hat seine persönliche Sammlung von Manuskripten die Jahrhunderte überdauert, wodurch seine Musik erhalten, gespielt und aufgenommen werden konnte. Aus dieser wertvollen Sammlung von ungefähr 450 Kompositionen haben die Altistin Delphine Galou und Ottavio Dantone, Leiter der Accademia Bizantina, für das Programm dieses Albums ausgegraben, das geistlichen Werken für Altstimme gewidmet ist.
Die Aufnahme enthält zwei „Introdutioni“ für Altstimme, einer Art Motette, die von Vivaldi für seine Aktivitäten in Venedig für die Pietà erfunden worden sein soll. Wir finden dort ebenfalls die Vesperhymne Deus tuorum militum für Alt und Tenor (Alessandro Giangrande) sowie ein Regina coeli, ein marianisches Antiphon für den Ostersonntag.
Im Mittelpunkt dieses Albums steht ein Violinkonzert, das für Mariä Himmelfahrt (15. August) geschrieben wurde. Die Bedeutung dieses Feiertages im italienischen liturgischen Kalender wird durch die für ein Vivaldi-Konzert ungewöhnlich lange Partitur sowie durch die Zweiteilung des Orchesters hervorgehoben, wobei die beiden Orchesterteile mit abwechselnd ernstem und freudigem Ausdruck dialogisieren. Die für seine Schülerin Anna Maria geschriebene und in den Archiven aufbewahrte Solo-Geigenstimme wird hier von Alessandro Tampieri gespielt, der sie durch ein hoch virtuoses „Capriccio“ seiner eigenen Kreation bereichert hat. © François Hudry/Qobuz
