Save Face

New Jersey punk outfit Save Face bring bleeding passion to their brand of emo and post-hardcore, which echoes the early-aughts sounds of Saves the Day and Further Seems Forever. Debuting with 2016's Folly EP, they built a following with consistent touring, eventually signing with Epitaph in 2018 for their first full-length, Merci. Their sophomore set, Another Kill for the Highlight Reel, landed in 2021. Formed in 2012, Save Face is headed by vocalist/guitarist Tyler Povanda, whose love of dramatic delivery was inspired by Broadway and his favorite band, Queen. Guitarist Paul McGarry, bassist Chris Aveta, and drummer Chris Flannery rounded out an early incarnation of the band. In 2015, they self-released My Heart, My Anchor, which featured "Brain" b/w "Drown." The next year, they issued debut EP Folly (on Take This to Heart Records), a collection of songs that focused on Povanda's social anxiety. An intimate reimagining, Folly: On the Rocks, arrived in late 2017, featuring fresh renditions on acoustic guitar and piano. Signing with Epitaph, they made their major-label debut in 2018 with full-length Merci, a multimedia concept album about addiction and rehab. Returning in 2021 with a revamped lineup, the band kicked off a new album era with the single "Glitter" from their sophomore album Another Kill for the Highlight Reel, which landed Halloween weekend. Produced by Brett Romnes (the Movielife, I Am the Avalanche), the Broadway-meets-goth set featured guest Geoff Rickly of Thursday on "A.M. Gothic."
