Rafael Solano

Multifaceted Rafael Solano started getting involved in music while participating in a local chorus at the age of 13. After attending piano classes, the young and enthusiastic musicican moved from his native Puerto Plata to Santo Domingo to join the National Conservatory of Music. La Gran Orquesta Angelita de la Voz Dominicana, Antonio Morel, and Alfonso Larrain's orchestras became his first experiences in the popular music field. During the early '60s, Solano had the opportunity to perform live in New York, returning to the Dominican Republic with several projects to promote local artists. A popular TV show, called La Hora del Moro, and a national music festival were among them. His romantic ballad "Por Amor," became a classic Latin song.
