Josh Dorr

Falling to the heartland rock side of the country music spectrum, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Josh Dorr moved to Nashville in 2010 and penned material for others before striking out on his own. Since then he has continued to write for artists like Jordan Davis, Kolby Cooper, and Dylan Brady, and has released a pair of well-received EPs (2014's Josh Dorr and 2017's Sundancer) as well as high-profile singles like "Girl Talk" and "I Owe You a Beer." Josh Dorr was born and grew up in the coal-mining town of Gillette, Wyoming. His early passion was for sports, particularly football, and he played the game at a high level in high school, drawing the attention of college recruiters. A series of sports-related injuries, however, made him reconsider his future as an athlete. During a rehab stint, Dorr picked up a guitar he'd been given and started learning how to play it, discovering in the process a new direction for his life. After a frustrating stint at the University of Wyoming, where he found that his previous college credits wouldn't transfer, he decided to pull up stakes and move to Nashville, where a friend helped set him up with an internship. Arriving in Music City in 2010, Dorr worked internships at a record label and at a music publisher; both provided him with valuable insight into the music industry. He started to write songs, both on his own and with others. Dorr eventually placed material he'd co-written for the USA Network series Necessary Roughness, as the theme to the Pursuit Channel series Open Season, and a song that had appeared on Casey James' second album brought him to the attention of RCA and his own record deal with RCA Nashville. His self-titled debut EP, led by the single "All or Nothing" and produced by Jim Catino, appeared in the spring of 2014. Three years later, he returned with his sophomore EP, Sundancer, which included the hits "Ready or Not" and "Run." 2020 saw Dorr release the singles "Girl Talk" and "I Owe You a Beer," both of which were slated to appear on his forthcoming debut full-length effort.
