Greenwich Trio

The multinational Greenwich Trio enjoyed mentorship from some of the top names in chamber music. The group has concertized widely at festivals and has made several recordings. The Greenwich Trio was formed in 2006. The original members were violinist Lana Trotovšek, cellist Stjepan Hauser (the last student of Mstislav Rostropovich), and pianist Yoko Misumi; Hauser was replaced in the 2010s by Heather Tuach. All were graduates of Trinity College of Music in London, situated in the city's Greenwich neighborhood, and all had promising solo careers. The group was coached by pianist Stephen Kovacevich and cellist Bernard Greenhouse; the latter, a member of the Beaux Arts Trio, called the group the new Beaux Arts Trio and has strongly championed the trio's career. The trio also had lessons from the Alban Berg Quartet, the Wihan Quartet, and the entire Beaux Arts Trio, among other groups. The first years of the Greenwich Trio's existence were marked by strong competition showings in Britain, Belgium, and Italy; the group earned Solti Foundation and Tunnell Trust Awards and took first prize of the Beethoven Society of Europe Chamber Music Competition. The Greenwich Trio appeared at the opening festivities of the Kings Place arts complex in London in 2008 and made its formal debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam the following year. The trio appeared in a series of concerts at the Royal Palace in Madrid, organized by Spain's Patriomonia Nacional. The Greenwich Trio made its recording debut in 2012 with an album of Beethoven and Mendelssohn trios on the Meridian label. The trio has also recorded Beethoven's Piano Trio in B flat major, Op. 97, for the Hedone Records label. The group has been especially popular at festivals, having appeared at international-level events such as the Festival Internacional de Santander, Rheingau Musik Festival, and Festival Ljubljana, as well as various events in the U.K. In 2023, the Greenwich Trio returned on recordings on the Linn label, with the first in a series devoted to the Brahms piano trios.
