Future Pigeon
Future Pigeon is an L.A.-based group featuring Jason Mason, Brandon Wells, Danny Preston, Jeff Cairns, and Grant Vanderslice of Wiskey Biscuit; Dave Scher ("Farmer Dave" of Beachwood Sparks); and Eddie Ruscha, Jr., aka "the Dungeonmaster" (Dada Munchamonkey, ex-Maids of Gravity, ex-Radar Bros.). Their music is a combustible mixture of reggae and dub music (inspired by recordings by Lee "Scratch" Perry and King Tubby, among others) combined with homespun country-fried rock elements. Their blissed-out live performances are often somewhat experimental in nature, where they can be seen sharing the stage with musicians huddled over guitars, basses, pedal steel, various turntables, guitars, keyboards, samplers, and other instruments. Future Pigeon has performed with pioneering British dub producer Adrian Sherwood and Scientist (Hopeton "Scientist" Brown). In 2001, the group released their debut album, Golden State of Dub, on Wiskey Biscuit's own L.A.-based Shipwrecords label. Their 2006 album The Echodelic Sounds of Future Pigeon found the band working with Ranking Joe and Mikey Dread.
