Blaise Pascal

The career of Toronto singer/songwriter Blaise Pascal began in 1996, when she took the grand prize (out of 4,000 entries) in the sixth Annual National Songwriting Competition, and came in second overall in the first John Lennon Songwriting Competition, resulting in a grant of $30,000 from FACTOR (Foundation to Support Canadian Talent on Records) to record her debut album, Hairspray, issued in August of 2000. In addition, Pascal has raked up another impressive accomplishment -- a Juno Award nomination for Best Songwriter (for the songs "Rush," "10 Feet High," and "Angel Baby"). Pascal's music can also be heard at the end of the motion picture New Waterford Girls, as well as the theme song for the Disney teen TV drama In a Heartbeat.
