Avec Release Me, Barbra Streisand ouvre ses archives personnelles pour exhumer onze pépites enregistrées entre 1963 et aujourd’hui. Avec plus de soixante albums à son actif, la New-yorkaise n’a évidemment plus rien à prouver. Mais cet éclectique festin vocal propose de bien belles choses qu’il serait dommage de ne pas écouter. Comme ce Didn't We signé Jimmy Webb et enregistré en 1970 pour un projet jamais paru intitulé The Singer. Ou bien encore le standard Willow Weep For Me, inédit de 1967 enregistré initialement pour Simply Streisand/i>, arrangé par Ray Ellis. Et surtout cette superbe version d’I Think It's Going Rain Today où Streisand est accompagnée par le simple piano du génial Randy Newman.
