14 février 1970, voilà une date essentielle pour tout bon fan des Who qui se respecte, marquant le concert du quatuor britannique à l’université de Leeds immortalisé dans ce Live at Leeds, régulièrement considéré comme l’un des meilleurs albums live de rock de tous les temps. C’est suite à la longue tournée de promotion de l’opéra-rock Tommy que les Who projettent d’immortaliser l’un de leur concert pour capturer l’intensité de leurs performances scéniques. Le lineup le plus célèbre du groupe (Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle et Keith Moon) se retrouve donc dans la cafétéria de l’université de Leeds, à jouer plus d’une trentaine de morceaux devant une foule de 2000 personnes. Les quatre musiciens répondent à toutes les attentes et sont clairement à la hauteur de leur réputation, offrant une prestation d’une rare intensité et semblant être à tout moment sur le point d’exploser.
