Motown

Le plus grand label de musique noire de tous les temps, Tamla Motown, fut créé dans l'hiver 1959 à Detroit (Michigan) par le grand Berry Gordy. Le nom « Motown » est la contraction de « Motor Town » (la ville du moteur), surnom donné à la ville de Détroit alors capitale de la production automobile. Avec l'argent qu'il avait gagné en écrivant et produisant des chansons, Berry Gordy avait auparavant créé sa première maison de disques - nommée Gordy, puis Tamla dont le premier tube sera Money (That's What I Want) de Barrett Strong. Les chansons de soul et de rhythm and blues produites par Berry Gordy feront toutes de gros tubes. Avec William «Smokey» Robinson et son group...
