Bartek Niziol
Raised in Szczecin, Poland, violinist Bartek Niziol (formerly Bartlomiej Niziol) began lessons on the violin at five, studying with Stanislaw Slusarek and Tadeusza Szeligowskiego. At 12, he studied with Jadwiga Kaliszewska in Poznan, and after graduating from the Academy of Music there, he studied with Pierre Amoyal in Lausanne, and participated in master classes held by Zakhar Bron, Ruggiero Ricci, Mauricio Fuks, and Michael Frischenschlager. In 1991, he won first prizes at the International Henryk Wieniawski Competition and the International Violin Competition in Adelaide, and in 1992 he won first prize at the International Violin Competition in Pretoria, Eurovision in Brussels, and the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris. He has been a frequent concerto soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Norddeutscher Rundfunk Hamburg, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, and the Philharmonia Zürich. He has toured Europe, South America, and Asia, and was a guest artist at the "Chopin and His Europe" Festival in Warsaw. Niziol plays a 1727 Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù violin and the 1715 Stradivarius "Aurea."
