In dieser CD-Box finden sich acht der wohl einflussreichsten Soloalben von Schlagzeugerlegende Billy Cobham, der sich Anfang der 1970er-Jahre aus dem von ihm mitbegründeten Mahavishnu Orchestra zurückzog, um eine Solokarriere anzugehen. Los gehts mit „Spectrum“ (1973) und dem Opener „Quadrant 4“, einem kaum zu bremsenden Energiestatement, sowie den Klassikern „Stratus“ und „Red Baron“. Dazu kommen „Crosswinds“ mit der „Spanish Moss“-Suite, „Total Eclipse“, das Live-Album „Shabazz“, „Funky Thide of Things“ (Cobhams tiefe Verneigung vor dem Funk), „Life & Times“, „Live on Tour in Europe“ (mit Keyboarder George Duke) sowie das perkussiv fokussierte „Inner Conflicts“.
Die einzeln in Pappschubern untergebrachten CDs in Vinyloptik werden von einem 56-seitigen Booklet begleitet, das Informationen zu jedem Album sowie einen allgemeinen Einleitungstext enthält. Zudem gibts pro CD zwei bis drei Bonustracks. Auf ein grundlegendes Remastering dagegen hat man anscheinend verzichtet.
In vielerlei Hinsicht gehören diese Alben zum absoluten Pflichtprogramm in punkto „Fusion“. Allein die Liste der Musiker, die daran beteiligt waren – allen voran John Scofield, John Abercrombie, die Brecker-Brothers sowie die Perkussionisten Peter und Sheila Escovedo –, liest sich wie das Who’s who der amerikanischen Musiklandschaft.
