"Mit Versprechungen ist das immer so eine Sache. Aber ich denke und hoffe, dass es beim zweiten Album etwas schneller gehen wird", so Jonathan Jeremiah im August 2011. Es hat geklappt. Gerade mal 14 Monate nach seinem Debütalbum - dessen Fertigstellung nahm sage und schreibe sieben (!) Jahre in Anspruch - präsentiert der bärtige Brite sein Zweitwerk.
"A Solitary Man" machte den introvertierten Globetrotter seinerzeit schlagartig in ganz Europa bekannt. Mit markantem, an Marvin Gaye und Cat Stevens erinnernden Organ und der pompösen Unterstützung eines kompletten Orchesters, verzauberte der Insulaner Fans und Kritiker gleichermaßen. Zum Dank schickte man Jonathan Jeremiah kurz nach der Veröffentlichung auf große Entdeckungstour. Ein halbes Jahr lang schlief der Sänger fast jede Nacht in einem anderen Hotelzimmer. In dieser Zeit entstanden die meisten der insgesamt elf neuen Post-Motown-Perlen.
Abermals umringt von einem kompletten Orchester macht der Mann aus Dollis Hill auf "Gold Dust" genau da weiter, wo er mit "A Solitary Man" aufhörte. Wahlweise mit der Gitarre oder dem Piano lässt der Sänger seinen eindringlichen Bariton über zeitlose Melodien schweben, derer man sich nur schwer entziehen kann. Das funktioniert sowohl im stillen Kämmerlein ("All We Need Is A Motorway", "Forever Shall Be Ours"), als auch im lichtdurchfluteten Konzertsaal ("Fighting Since The Day We Are Born", "Lazin' In The Sunshine").
Jonathan Jeremiah hat ein einzigartiges Gespür dafür, die richtige Balance zwischen ausufernder Opulenz und pointiertem Minimalismus zu finden, ohne dabei das Gesamtgefüge auseinanderzureißen. Homogen und eingängig wechseln sich laut und leise ab.
Ob Jazz, Soul, Pop oder Folk: zu jeder Zeit stimmt der Mix. Und obwohl kaum Ecken und Kanten an den Boxenausgängen hängenbleiben, wirkt das Gesamtpaket alles andere als rundproduziert oder gar aalglatt.

"Mit Versprechungen ist das immer so eine Sache. Aber ich denke und hoffe, dass es beim zweiten Album etwas schneller gehen wird", so Jonathan Jeremiah im August 2011. Es hat geklappt. Gerade mal 14 Monate nach seinem Debütalbum - dessen Fertigstellung nahm sage und schreibe sieben (!) Jahre in Anspruch - präsentiert der bärtige Brite sein Zweitwerk.
"A Solitary Man" machte den introvertierten Globetrotter seinerzeit schlagartig in ganz Europa bekannt. Mit markantem, an Marvin Gaye und Cat Stevens erinnernden Organ und der pompösen Unterstützung eines kompletten Orchesters, verzauberte der Insulaner Fans und Kritiker gleichermaßen. Zum Dank schickte man Jonathan Jeremiah kurz nach der Veröffentlichung auf große Entdeckungstour. Ein halbes Jahr lang schlief der Sänger fast jede Nacht in einem anderen Hotelzimmer. In dieser Zeit entstanden die meisten der insgesamt elf neuen Post-Motown-Perlen.
Abermals umringt von einem kompletten Orchester macht der Mann aus Dollis Hill auf "Gold Dust" genau da weiter, wo er mit "A Solitary Man" aufhörte. Wahlweise mit der Gitarre oder dem Piano lässt der Sänger seinen eindringlichen Bariton über zeitlose Melodien schweben, derer man sich nur schwer entziehen kann. Das funktioniert sowohl im stillen Kämmerlein ("All We Need Is A Motorway", "Forever Shall Be Ours"), als auch im lichtdurchfluteten Konzertsaal ("Fighting Since The Day We Are Born", "Lazin' In The Sunshine").
Jonathan Jeremiah hat ein einzigartiges Gespür dafür, die richtige Balance zwischen ausufernder Opulenz und pointiertem Minimalismus zu finden, ohne dabei das Gesamtgefüge auseinanderzureißen. Homogen und eingängig wechseln sich laut und leise ab.
Ob Jazz, Soul, Pop oder Folk: zu jeder Zeit stimmt der Mix. Und obwohl kaum Ecken und Kanten an den Boxenausgängen hängenbleiben, wirkt das Gesamtpaket alles andere als rundproduziert oder gar aalglatt.
