Babymonster

Following a legacy that includes 2NE1 and Blackpink, South Korea's BabyMonster joined the YG Entertainment lineage as the label's third major girl group in 2023. The multinational, multilingual septet made their debut late that year with the propulsive single "Batter Up," off 2024's BabyMons7er EP, before topping the South Korean charts with 1st Full Album [Drip].BabyMonster began its formation in the late 2010s, comprised of members from around Asia: South Koreans Ahyeon, Rami, and Rora; Ruka and Asa from Japan; and Pharita and Chiquita from Thailand. The seven spent years training before the label teased their unveiling in late 2022. While each individual was gradually announced to the public over the course of the following year, it wouldn't be until May that BabyMonster's music would hit the world with the release of the unofficial "pre-debut" promotional track "Dream." Their official debut landed that November with "Batter Up," an aggressive dose of dance-pop that highlighted the group's vocal and rap delivery, blending '90s-styled R&B girl group production with the energy of labelmates Blackpink. The song made a splash around the world, hitting the Top 20 on various charts in Asia, New Zealand, and the U.S. A second single, "Stuck in the Middle," followed in February 2024. Both tracks paved the way for the group's eponymously titled EP, BabyMons7er, which arrived that April, hitting number three on South Korea's Circle Albums chart and 15 on Billboard's World Albums. That November, they delivered their full-length debut, Drip, or 1st Full Album [Drip] that, along with the title track, featured the singles "Forever" and "Clik Clak." It debuted at number one in South Korea, number seven in Japan, and cracked the Billboard 200.
