Tenor

Real name Thierry Mengoumou Ayia, Cameroonian rapper Tenor was born on April 11, 1998 in Yaoundé, where he grew up and went to school. He was just 16 when he launched his musical career with the freestyle "Camerounais". Subsequent tracks, "Alelouyah" in 2015 and "Do le Dab", confirmed his burgeoning notoriety, prompting him to abandon his studies and embrace a career as an artist for good. He then joined the War Machine label, and a year later Universal Music Africa, with whom he signed a contract for two albums. At first, he released singles such as "Kaba Ngondo" and "Bad Things", but also collaborated with Mani Bella on "Déranger" and DJ Arafat on "Chicoter les tympans". In 2017, his blossoming was confirmed when he was awarded the titles of "Revelation of the Year" and "Artist of the Year" at the Balafon Music Awards, while "Bad Things " won the distinction of "Best Video of the Year" at the same ceremony. His first EP, entitled Nnom Ngui, was released in 2018, followed three years later by a second, named Terre Mère. Also in 2021, he was named "Best Male Afro Urbain Artist" at the Canal 2'Or ceremony. In 2022, he released the tracks "Zéro" and "Profiter".
