Sandy

Brazilian singer Sandy Leah Lima (January 28, 1983) jumped into the spotlight in the early 90s as one half of the teenage pop sibling duo Sandy & Junior. Born in Campinas, she is the daughter of singer Durval de Lima, better known as Xororó. She and her brother, musician Junior Lima, made their debut as Sandy & Junior in 1990 with the children's sertanejo album Aniversário do Tatu and later transitioned into mainstream pop with the full-lengths Era Uma Vez - Ao Vivo (1998), As Quatro Estações (1999), Quatro Estações - O Show (2000), Internacional (2002), and Sandy & Junior (2006), which received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Pop Album. After the group’s disbandment in 2007, Sandy embarked on a solo career that began with Manuscrito (2008), which peaked at Number 4 on the Brazilian charts and spawned a live album titled Manuscrito Ao Vivo (2011). Preceded by the hit single “Aquela dos 30,” her second studio effort Sim arrived in 2013 and went to Number 9 in Brazil. Following a handful of appearances on TV series and films, including a feature on Andrea Bocelli’s Love in Portofino (2013), Sandy became a judge on the reality singing competition Superstar replacing Ivete Sangalo. Her second live album Meu Canto saw the light in 2016 and hit Number 2 on the Brazilian Albums Chart, largely thanks to the hit single “Me Espera,” a duet with Tiago Iorc. Subsequently, Sandy returned in 2018 with the album Nós, Voz, Eles and reunited with brother Junior Lima for a tour celebrating Sandy & Junior’s 30th anniversary.
