Peniel
The Korean-American rapper and singer known as Peniel was born Peniel Shin on March 10, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois. He relocated to Seoul with his family during his adolescence and became a trainee for Cube Entertainment shortly after. In 2012, he made his official debut with the idol group BTOB, with whom he released a series of commercially successful blockbuster albums that went on to dominate the South Korean charts. His debut English mixtape, Homesick Mixtape Vol. 1, arrived in 2016 and was followed by the single “That Girl,” which was included in the BTOB solo project Piece of BtoB in 2017. Subsequent digital singles “B.O.D.,” “Fly23,” and “Flip” all came out in 2019 and helped Peniel establish himself as one of the most promising talents in the K-pop scene. After collaborating with bandmate Yook Sung-jae on the track “Hypnotized” and joining the BTOB sub-unit BtoB 4U in 2020, he resumed his solo career with the 2021 single “Valentine.”
