Kanika Kapoor
Kanika Kapoor (August 21, 1978) is an award-winning Indian playback singer from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Even though she aspired to become a performer from a very young age, she became a full-time mom after marrying businessman Raj Chandok in 1998. Following their divorce in 2012, she moved to Mumbai to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer. She made her debut later that year with the single “Jugni Ji,” a remix of the Pakistani Sufi song “Alif Allah” that became one of the biggest singles of 2012. Her Bollywood playback singing career began in 2014 when she was invited to sing on the track “Baby Doll” for the film Ragini MMS 2. The song reached the top of the charts in India and earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. In the subsequent years, she continued her rapid ascent to stardom by lending her voice to the soundtrack of box office hits such as Happy New Year (2014), Roy (2015), Dilwale (2015), Udta Punjab (2016), and Munna Michael (2017), racking up numerous accolades along the way. In 2021, her song “Oo Bolega Ya Oo Oo Bolega,” featured on the soundtrack of the Telugu action drama Pushpa: The Rise, reached Number 86 on the Indian Top 100.
