Johan Palm

Johan Palm is a Swedish pop singer who made his chart-topping debut in 2009 with the smash hit single "Emma-Lee" after rising to fame a year earlier on the reality television show Idol. Born on March 3, 1992, in Mjölby, Sweden, he appeared on the 2008 season of Idol, a Swedish version of the British reality television show Pop Idol, and finished in fourth place behind winner Kevin Borg. While a contestant on the show, Palm performed entirely English-language songs, among them Coldplay's "Viva la Vida," Suede's "Beautiful Ones," ABBA's "The Winner Takes All," Alice Cooper's "Poison," the Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love," Starship's "We Built This City," the Pretenders' "I'll Stand by You," the Cure's "Friday I'm in Love," the Doobie Brothers' "Long Train Running," and Tom Petty's "Free Falling." Offered a recording deal with Sony Music in the aftermath of his impressive Idol showing, Palm went about recording his full-length solo album debut with a team of industry professionals. The resulting album, the English-language effort My Antidote (2009), was a commercial blockbuster success, reaching the Top Five of the Swedish albums chart and spawning the chart-topping smash hit lead single "Emma-Lee."
