Hannah Hobbs
Australian worship leader and singer/songwriter Hannah Hobbs carved out a career as one of Hillsong Worship's principal songwriters before releasing her own worship-driven solo album Sundown in 2023.
Born and raised in Australia, Hobbs first found faith at the age of 13 after attending church with a schoolfriend. Her parents initially thought it was a phase, but Hobbs continued with her faith, eventually becoming a worship leader, guitarist, and songwriter for her local youth ministry. Hobbs' songwriting skills found their way to Hillsong and she became one of their principal songwriters, delivering worship songs such as "Touch of Heaven," "Thank You Jesus," and "Never Walk Alone." When COVID-19 hit in 2020, Hobbs spent time writing new material and with a heap of new songs decided to put together her own solo worship project. Inviting an intimate group of just 100-odd fellow worshipers and friends, Hobbs, alongside Ben Fielding, Cass Langton, Alexander Pappas, and more performed the material in a two-hour service. The first fruits of that recording appeared at the tail-end of 2022 with the release of "Give Thanks" before the full album, Sundown, was issued in February 2023.
