Diego Daza

Diego Daza, born April 25, 1987, in Valledupar, Colombia, is an acclaimed singer and songwriter who performs in the vallenato genre. He has made a name for himself not only with his own songs but also through compositions created for renowned artists such as Silvestre Dangond, Martín Elías, Peter Manjarrés, Felipe Peláez, and el Binomio de Oro. His music combines the sounds of traditional vallenato with brighter, more contemporary, and danceable sounds. Even though he was well-established as a songwriter in the local scene, it wasn't until after teaming up with accordionist Carlos Rueda in 2017 that he finally broke out as a solo performer. "El Favorcito," their debut single, was released later that year, propelling the duo to nationwide fame. This success was followed by his studio debut Esto Que Dice in 2018, which was nominated for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards. Between 2019 and 2020, he delivered a string of solid hit singles such as "La Soltería" and "Que Beso Ni Que Na'," and recorded the live album Esto Que Dice: Live (En vivo Parque de La Leyenda). A second Latin Grammy nomination ensued in 2021 for the live LP Pa' Que Se Esmigajen los Parlantes, as well as his sophomore album, De Película. Following a live version of the album in 2022, Diego Daza and Carlos Rueda made headlines once again with their third studio effort, A To' Timbal, which included popular tracks like "Cupido," "El DM," and "Borró Caset."
