Cinema Red And Blue
Cinema Red and Blue are a side project of members of the U.K. indie rock heroes Comet Gain, U.S. chamber poppers the Ladybug Transistor, and the New York band Crystal Stilts. In August of 2009, Comet Gain vocalist/guitarist David Christian and keyboardist Anne Laure Guillain flew to N.Y.C. to record with bassist Andy Adler and guitarist JB Townsend of Crystal Stilts, Kyle Forester, who played in both the Stilts and Ladybug Transistor, and former Comet Gain/current Soft City drummer Phil Sutton. The weeklong session took place at Marlborough Farms, the Brooklyn studio run by head Ladybug Gary Olson. The results were a mix of Christian-penned originals and covers of songs by Dead Moon, Vic Godard, the Chills, and the Len Bright Combo. While the U.K. contingent was in town, the band played a show at New York's Cake Shop that was by all accounts wonderfully ramshackle. The group's self-titled album was released by New York label What's Your Rupture? in September of 2010.
