Cumplidos los 86, Willie Nelson sigue sin levantar el pie del acelerador y lanzando, a ritmo casi anual, sus nuevos trabajos. En el melancólico Ride Me Back Home (su álbum número 69 en estudio, a juicio de los expertos), el pope del country hippie reúne once canciones mayoritariamente originales, firmadas junto a su viejo cómplice Buddy Cannon, en las que mezcla su habitual humor con sus típicas viñetas abiertamente nostálgicas, cuando no directamente realistas, relacionadas tanto con su edad como con la fugacidad del tiempo (Come On Time). Pero a la vez, Willie incluye versiones de la sublime My Favorite Picture of You de Guy Clark, del hit Just the Way You Are de Billy Joel y de It's Hard to Be Humble de Mac Davis, que revisita acompañado por sus hijos Lukas y Micah Nelson.
