Es ist vielleicht gar nicht so schlecht, dass „Camp Rock 2“ den Untertitel „The Final Jam“ trägt, denn alle Mitwirkenden an dieser Fortsetzung aus dem Jahr 2010 des Disney Channel Hits (2008) klingen für eine derartige Sommerblödelei ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Die Jonas Brothers sind zweifellos viel zu erfolgreich, um diese Pro-Forma-Teeniemusik zu singen und sogar Demi Lovato wirkt durch eine Reihe von Songs gehemmt, die für ein Projekt geschrieben wurden, das stark nach vertraglichen Auflagen riecht. Die bemerkenswerte Ausnahme von der Regel ist Matthew „Mdot“ Finley, ein Möchtegern-R&B Impresario, der den Soundtrack mit seinem nach Chris Brown klingenden Gesumme und digitalen Reproduktionen von analogen Synths aufmischt, es jedoch mit seiner inneren Unruhe nicht schafft, in eine Rolle zu schlüpfen. Dieses Album ist so schal, zäh und fad wie der Kaugummi von gestern.
