KOHH

Yuki Chiba, known professionally as KOHH, is a Japanese rapper. He was born on April 22, 1990, in Oji, Kita, Tokyo. Raised by a single mother alongside his younger brother, he grew up in a challenging environment marked by his father's suicide and his mother's struggles with addiction. This upbringing, amidst violence and drugs, significantly influenced his early foray into the Japanese hip-hop scene. KOHH's music career took off at 18 when he started producing and recording music. His collaboration with producer 318 under GUNSMITH PRODUCTION led to his initial underground success. He released a series of mixtapes that steadily grew his popularity. KOHH's breakthrough came with the release of his studio debut MONOCHROME (2014), which reached number 57 on the Oricon charts, mainly thanks to the popularity of the track "I Don't Mind if I'm Poor." 2015 was a pivotal year for KOHH as he featured on Keith Ape's hit "잊지마," further elevating his status in Japan and internationally. He was awarded the Best Japan Act at the MTV Europe Music Award in 2017 and the Best Hip Hop Artist at the Space Shower Music Video Awards in both 2016 and 2017. In 2016, KOHH collaborated with global artists including Frank Ocean on "Nikes" and was featured on Hikaru Utada's album Fantôme (2016) and Mariah Carey's Caution (2018). KOHH continued to make waves with the release of albums such as Untitled (2019) and Worst (2020), which became his highest charting studio effort yet by peaking at number 12 on the Oricon Albums Chart. In 2024, he released the single "Team Tomodachi," a track that quickly caught on and went viral.
