This single is the Baltimore duo's first ever seven-inch, and it's as good as anything on BEACH HOUSE or DEVOTION. Beach House seem patently incapable of making anything other than gorgeous records, but "Used to Be" has even more of the lazy gait and sunrise-hazy atmosphere (and swooning Victoria LeGrand vocals) that their fans have come to expect. Rich slide guitar and organ contribute to the dreamy vibe, but it's all too beautiful to be merely soporific. Included with the single is a demo version of "Apple Orchard," from their debut.
