Aaron Lewis ayant pu se débarrasser sa fantaisie de troubadour dans son album country Town Line, il peut désormais se concentrer sur les bases pour le septième éponyme de Staind.. Rugissant à la vie dans « Not Again », Staind maintient le même volume et la même vitesse sur la plupart des neuf autres morceaux, ralentissant l’intensité pour le titre de fermeture, « Something to Remind You ». En s’appuyant si lourdement sur la testostérone, Staind semble vouloir prouver qu’il peut toujours faire du bruit, et le groupe marque des points en livrant contre toute attente un album viscéral.
