Dans son troisième album, "Soul Is Heavy",on peut voir que les quinze titres ont été puisés dans une réserve d’une cinquantaine de chansons, la plupart ayant été composées par Nneka lorsqu’elle se trouvait au Nigeria. Ces titres intègrent une myriade de styles musicaux : reggae, hip-hop, R&B moderne et soul vintage, afrobeat, et même des éléments de flamenco et de blues du Sahara imprégnant tous les morceaux, du titre d’ouverture « Lucifer (No Doubt) » au morceau doux et paisible « Shining Star », en passant par le déchaîné « Camouflage » et les titres poignants et introspectifs tels que « Valley ».
