Derrière ce nom de I’m With Her se cache en fait l’union de trois expertes du folk, du bluegrass et de l’americana : Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz et Aoife O’Donovan. Des amies aux carrières déjà denses (une dizaine d’albums solo à elles trois) ayant décidé d’unir leurs forces le temps de ce See You Around. Enregistrée dans le studio Real World de Peter Gabriel à Bath en Angleterre avec Ethan Johns à la production, cette orgie d’harmonies vocales cristallines et sobres est composée de onze titres originaux et d’une chanson de Gillian Welch (Hundred Miles).
La complicité sincère et d’un grand naturel entre les trois femmes accouche d’une BO aux teintes sépia, symphonie intimiste jamais monotone d’une Amérique oubliée qui ressuscite avec la grâce qu’elles confèrent à leurs interprétations. Fiddle et ukulélé pour Watkins, mandoline et banjo pour Jarosz et piano et synthé pour O’Donovan, ces trois-là manipulent leurs armes de prédilection avec leur finesse habituelle, privilégiant la narration à la pyrotechnie instrumentale.
