Ce premier album, produit par le groupe lui-même et supervisé par Frank Zappa, est une curiosité. Le fan d’Alice Cooper n’y retrouvera quasiment rien du rock lourd et efficace qui a fait le succès de la formation au début des années 1970. Ici, tout est décousu, à la limite de l’expérimental (l’influence de Zappa ?), entre longues improvisations de guitares acides, basses galopante, batterie à la Keith Moon, giclées d’harmonica, pianos bastringues et chœurs psychédéliques. Pour ne rien arranger, la prise de son est assez pitoyable. On croirait parfois entendre Queen ou les Sparks (« Today Mueller ») voire les Who (« Living ») enregistrés sur un dictaphone. Bref, un joyeux délire un peu bordélique, totalement inattendu de la part de ce groupe qui allait bientôt fortement discipliner l’écriture, le jeu et le son de ses chansons, ce que montre bien le titre « Reflected », ici simple brouillon éclaté qui, revu et corrigé trois ans plus tard, deviendra le fameux tube « Elected ».
